  • Greg Rewis on Website Workflow

Greg Rewis is currently demoing a workflow between Photoshop and Fireworks. I believe the Dreamweaver he launched is beta, named Hanzo (name the flic “Hanzo” is from for the win!). Nice, he just showed how you can copy and paste from Photoshop and paste in Dreamweaver. When you do, it brings up the Fireworks image export prompt to optimize it, and then embed it.

He’s also showing the Spry, Adobe’s AJAX framework, integration wtih Dreamweaver. You can see the binding tags, like {myDate}, on the Dreamweaver preview. It has some integration with the existing Dreamweaver javascript effects.

  • Blue Man Group at Keynote & New Acrobat

It was pretty neat, I’ve never seen them before. They are pretty talented with music and paint. I definately plan on scoring some tickets to take my wife if possible one night.

Kevin also just showed the next Acrobat Reader; that thing was f’n fast, yo, and… well… minimal in interface. Sweet! Apparently, Ben Forta is getting a petticure tomorrow… wtf?

    …need… coffee…

  • D&D @ MAX – Eberron Anyone?

Eberron_Adventure_Party.jpgI was planning to wait a week to ask, but I am already getting emails from groups and individuals planning events at the Adobe MAX 2006 conference 2 weeks from now.  To ensure everyone has fair time to plan their days I figure I’ll ask now to give people ample time and options.

Does anyone want to play a game of D&D in the Eberron setting some time at MAX?

I’ll be the DM of course.  We’ll be running one of the low-level modules for the Eberron campaign setting.  You’re welcome to use a pre-made character from any race and class, but she must be 3rd level or below.  Eberron specific characters a plus!  Additionally, I’ll roll up some pre-made characters for those who’ve never played or don’t have a low-level character handy.

I know times are tight.  Sys-con‘s doing something October 23rd, Monday night that I want to try to make.  Ted’s doing MAXUP’s during the day, and I’ll have to be a booth-boy for Universal Mind when I’m not speaking parts of the day, so that really leaves dinner time Saturday, Sunday, and Monday .  I think I’m speaking twice at the end of the day Wednesday.  I doubt there will be time during the day.  I’m leaving Thursday night kind of early.  I’m open to multiple nights in case there is interest since modules sometimes take multiple gaming sessions to get through.  I need to check this weekend what else my company had planned, but I’m pretty sure nights are open.  Adobe is running parties from like around 5 – 7pm Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights.  I’ve also got something different planned Tuesday eve’ as well.

My experience with conferences is that every night is full of too much stuff to do.  Not to mention the fact we will be in Las Vegas, party central.  For a lot of people, this is purely business so they’ll end up meeting someone in their industry they view as a peer or potential client, and go out to dinner.  Others are people who’ve known each other online for years, but are only now meeting face to face.

Therefore, I’m totally cool with people playing it by ear.  If you don’t want to commit till 2 minutes before, no problem. If there ends up being no time to play, no problem there either, just seeing if anyone is game.

I can only run a 6 person game, so if you are interested, let me know either at jesterxl@jessewarden.com or jesse.warden@gmail.com and we’ll see how it goes.

  • Flex in New York @ Flexseminar

ATT00241.jpgI’m sitting at the Universal Mind table in the Roosevelt hotel. The place is pretty packed. Geeks mingled with suits; some of the geeks IN suits. Darron Schall of CF64 & FlashVNC fame and Todd Cieplinski are engaging various passerbys about the cool Flex work we do next to me. I’ve finally met Dave Wolfe of Cynergy Systems in person, albeit briefly. Grant Straker all the way from New Zealand is at an adjacent table; I had no clue he was gonna be here. He’s the dude that gave us the phat pocket knives at MXDU 2005; that was the best conference gift ever.

I have a Flash 7 project officially starting up in Detroit tomorrow so have to leave at 4pm to make my flight. New York traffic is just like Atlanta! I feel so at home. Manhattan was beautiful from the sky last night; I unconciously mouthed “wow…” before the pilot came on the overhead mentioned that it was off to the left.

While everyone was celebrating Flash’ 10 year birthday last couple weeks, I was busy using it. Feel kind of bad not taking the time to celebrate a technology vs. using it, but I DID manage to do a Breeze presentation near the birthday. To me, it’s appropriate to utilize Flash to bring people together from across the country to discuss… Flash. What better way to celebrate Flash’ birthday than to use it to network with others in disparate geographic locations for learning, and social interaction for the betterment of mankind? Pimp!

Anyway, consolation is I can use Flash 8, and save as MX 2004, hehe. Hopefully in the next couple of months I can start using Flex 2 professionally. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll always love the speed of development AS2 can give you, but Flex 2 apps are more fun right now because it’s so fresh and new. They are about to start so I wanna at least see the keynote since I’ll try my best to be a good “booth boy” the rest of the day. Wish you were here.
