  • JXL Freestyle

    Do you have urban flava’?

Disclaimer on my freestyle: It was late, I was tired, and more worried about my mic and speakers working properly rather than staying on beat. Hopefully, though, the Director one will make your Friday. It was a hidden nugget on my portfolio from ’99.

I’ll upload the source in a few days.

    Turn your speakers up, baby…

edit: I realize you may not be able to publish your stream; supposedly, I have 200 megs on my server, but for some reason it’s stopping at 134, and only at 1am (wtf), so if you can’t publish, don’t delete your stream; keep it around until I beat Mediatemple over the head and have them fix my server.

  • JXL DataProvider Extensions

Added 3 methods to the DataProvider class to add some features to it. It’s an old class, I know, but you can never stop improving!

    – removeView = removes a listener, opposite of addView
    – save = saves the DataProvider’s items to a local SharedObject
    – read = reads the saved items from a local SharedObject, and then populates the DataProvider

I’ll update the DataProviderClass documentation later as I’d prefer not to add more XML files to your CustomActions folder; the more XML reference files you have in there, the more it slows Flash starting up for some people. For now, all methods return true if it worked, and false if it didn’t. The exception is save returns “pending” if the user needs to allocate more space for their local SharedObjects via the Settings Panel.

You can use either the Components as optional features or just include the as file. The as file is included in the MXP. I utilized <a href=”http://www.muzakdeezign.com/mxi_creator/index.asp”>Muzak’s MXI File Creator</a> to quickly package this component; phat product! • Gloat: I beat Metroid Prime

I just thought I’d gloat and mention that I beat Metroid Prime. The graphics on this game will make you cry. The design on some of the menu’s is just fantastic; I swear I wish my Flash work could look like that as I’m sure most of what they did aside from the 70fps 3D models with zillions of polygons thrown in can be done… if I only I were a guru.

Regardless, even though the controls take some getting used to, worth buying a Gamecube for. Time for Zelda… or was it Star Wars Galaxies? Soo many games, soo little time!

  • Netscape’s death leaves more questions unanswered…

I used to think the death of Netscape would make web design a more attractive profession to me. <a href=”http://www.deftone.com/blogzilla/archives/a_new_foundation_and_layoffs.html”>Per this post</a> on the current state of da Mozilla org. However… (Read on)
