Well, it'd certainly add credence to their AMF binary transfer format. There is sooo much criticism from what I've seen on what Remoting actually does. It works great for me, but I find it hard to argue the technicals behind it when my boss explains in 1 sentence what it does and how to write it yourself.

If they did in fact add it internally, it would greatly speed up the use of Remoting, I'm sure, since it'd all be written in C instead of AS. It's been fast enough for me, but that would be a great step in the whole player optimization thing.

I really like the idea of a simpler WebService class wrapper like the ones I have written already. Curious what gateway it uses.

I hope its not just for the Console, but something being released in a new version of Flash. I think Flash Remoting is great and all, but I truely think that native support for SOAP and webservices should have been implemented first.

Yeah, they've been talking about both on the list, but I have no clue what they mean by regular expressions. Either this is an allusion to Flash MX2 coming out which supports those (whatever they are), or there is a special API you can access in the Console of Macromedia Central. I know there are already a few undocumented commands, but there were some special ones just for the console which I bet have to do with the prog itself.
