onKeyDown with no listeners

Mike Chambers asked about getting a movie clip to hear key events without adding to the Key object as a listener.

Here’s how:
– download the <a href=”https://www.jessewarden.com/downloads/onKeyDown no listener.fla”>file
– open in Flash
– Test your movie
– turn off Keyboard shortcuts via Control > Disable Keyboard Shortcuts
– hit the tab key until you see the focus rect (yellow circle) go around the circle
– press a key on the keyboard
– you should see a trace in the output window

…NONE of this requires you to move your mouse, so don’t use it.

Bokel’s ASBroadcaster Updated… again

He updated it again… but, it’s a must if you want your shiote to work. Bleh…

RIA Example: Theory 7

Originally posted by Granato, Theory 7 has just opened up a new store for Flash developers.

Now, some hate the RIA term, others love it. Regardless of your bent (gross) this is a great example, to me, of what an RIA can be. One page that acts as a store with a lot of great user feedback as to what’s going on. The cons are that it goes fullscreen without asking for permission, fonts are small as shiote, and there doesn’t appear to be a cookie-trail or any easy way to bookmark a section. Still, these types of sites make Flash developers look yummy to the industry. Spread the word.
